Legal Assistance for Victims Attorney - Civil

Turning Point Domestic Violence Services is seeking a qualified Full Time Civil Attorney for the Legal Assistance for Victims (LAV) program.

 

The LAV Civil Attorney provides information, legal direction, advice, and representation to qualified Turning Point clients who are seeking assistance in family law, protective orders, landlord-tenant, and other civil legal matters. The position is based in Turning Point’s administrative office in Columbus, Indiana and will provide representation to Turning Point clients in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Johnson, and Shelby Counties. The LAV Civil Attorney will coordinate services with all Turning Point Case Managers who are referring and working with clients in need of civil legal services.   Successful candidates are required to have a Juris Doctor (J.D.), be licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, be a member in good standing of the Bar of Indiana, and have experience working with victims and survivors of intimate partner violence.

 

Candidates will be required to maintain professional boundaries in adherence with the Indiana Rules of Court, Rules of Professional Conduct. This role works with and is supervised by the Director of Legal Advocacy and works with non-residential case managers and emergency shelter staff to meet the immediate and long-term legal needs of survivors. The role is charged with creating a welcoming and responsive environment for survivors.  The position requires the ability to multi-task, while working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

 

This is a full time, salaried, 40 hour per week position

 

Vacation, PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance benefits are available after 90 days. An employer match retirement plan is available in the 3rd year of employment. 40 hours of initial training and orientation will be provided.

Bilingual (SP) Domestic Violence Non-Residential Advocate-Full Time

Turning Point Domestic Violence Services is seeking a qualified Full Time Bilingual(SP) Advocate in Bartholomew County

 

Successful candidates must be fluent in both English and Spanish. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of either educational or volunteer experience in the field(s) of Domestic Abuse, Social Services, Mental Health or a related field. This is an entry level position and training will be provided. Candidates will be asked to maintain professional boundaries in adherence to NASW Code of Ethics and have professional experience working with culturally diverse, at-risk families. This role works together with non-residential case managers and emergency shelter staff to meet the immediate needs of survivors. The role is charged with creating a welcoming and responsive environment for survivors.  The position requires the ability to multi-task, while working as part of a team in a fast- paced environment.

This is a full time 40 hour per week position that could work well with a student schedule.

Turning Point Domestic Violence Services Advocate - Part Time Evening and Weekends

Great opportunity for a flexible part-time position serving survivors of domestic violence in Bartholomew County Emergency Residential Shelter.

 

This is a part-time flexible position working at least 2 evenings a week and a full day on either Saturday or Sunday that could work well with a student schedule.

 

Background may include Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field. 2 years direct service/case management experience or bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Responsibilities include crisis and helpline response, intake, safety planning, legal advocacy, coordinating community resources, and court accompaniment.  Some prevention and community outreach work are required.  Candidate must have the ability to maintain professional boundaries in adherence to NASW Code of Ethics.

 

 

Base pay is $13.50 per hour

 

PTO offered after 90 Days. Employer match retirement plan in place for all employees.  40 hours orientation and initial training will be provided.
