why i give to turning point?

There are many reasons why someone gives financially or through volunteerism to Turning Point Domestic Violence Services.

Please read the stories of donors and volunteers who support our agency with their gifts.

"We lived in the shelter for a month. We had nothing. I was at the lowest point in my life. My baby and I had PTSD. I was covered in bruises and everything made me jump. I cried all the time. I couldn’t look myself in the mirror. All I saw was a weak pathetic mother who couldn’t protect herself and her baby.

It was then that I decided I was no longer a victim. I was a fighter. I fought with everything in me. Every time I felt like giving up I remembered there were little eyes watching me, that my child needed me to stay strong. I have been free of domestic violence for four years now. Today I am a respite therapist for individuals with physical and or mental disabilities while I attend school full time to be a lawyer.

Today I am a strong independent single mother of two beautiful baby girls and I will teach them everything they need to know so what happened to me never happens to them. I am no longer a victim of domestic violence. I am a survivor”.

Support of Turning Point made this survivor’s success possible.

Providing safe, stable, and nurturing environments for our children is the most effective strategy available to all of us for eliminating intimate partner violence in the future.

Your donation to Turning Point will do just that- support programs that work towards the prevention and the elimination of dating and domestic violence. All donations are fully tax-deductible.

Thank you for considering volunteer work with us. Currently we have a need for the following volunteers:
